Revit to Infraworks Highlights
Revit import to Infraworks
- Navis 3D View in
Revit: https://youtu.be/Y-vdLl5NREo?t=957
- Revit Materials: 3D view for exporting standard
textures (Customized textures don't export in this tutorial):
https://youtu.be/Y-vdLl5NREo?t=1912
- Navisworks to manage export settings to translate Revit
files: https://youtu.be/Y-vdLl5NREo?t=2028
- Alternates FBX and Colada (Maintaining rotation and
location) https://youtu.be/Y-vdLl5NREo?t=2091 revit not on
roadmap!? FBCX or IFC acceptable.
- Lat Long in Infraworks Point Of Interest POI:

- Script for exporting POI Lat Long from
infraworks: https://youtu.be/Y-vdLl5NREo?t=2223
- FBX (No basepoints user origin point) https://youtu.be/Y-vdLl5NREo?t=2328
- Transmuting coordinates in Revit to Infraworks for FBX https://youtu.be/Y-vdLl5NREo?t=2627
- 'Does Infraworks use NWC files'? https://youtu.be/Y-vdLl5NREo?t=2748
From Revit you wouldn't use an NWC, RVT file best, FBX is second is then
IFC (Which looses all textures and a muted/decimated file). Infraworks
doesn't really use an NWC- Navis just converts it to an InfraWorks format
(SQL?) It does create a copy NWC file but doesn't actually open or use it.
- Import options in Infraworks: https://youtu.be/Y-vdLl5NREo?t=2840
Enable navis work conversion (Otherwise pushes to cloud to convert and
takes more time)
- Import FHBX : https://youtu.be/Y-vdLl5NREo?t=2868
Could use script to create XML file
of share coordinate at origin point and use that to transpose in the Infraworks
file. Requires the shared coordinates correctly located in the context to
acquire the lat/long correctly to push to infraworks. (Scripting / dynamo
export assist) positive negative may be an issue on import
