Revision traingles in revit schedules

Summary

Revision symbols ILO numbers in the revision sets for clients that require the symbols in the revision schedule.

Triangles and numbers embedded as symbols in the Arial MS Unicode font:

Delta symbols for revision schedules and schedules embedded in the circle number representations of the Arial MS Unicode font. The first image shows the UNICODE ID for the symbols:

Second image shows the Corresponding "Basic" symbol replaced by the triangles:

NOTE: The 1-20 numbers are slightly smaller than the typical and were shifted down to the baseline to eliminate the font clipping when tops exceeded the upper limit of the font.

Revit revision sequence:

Arial Unicode MS

①,②,③,④,⑤,⑥,⑦,⑧,⑨,⑩,⑪,⑫,⑬,⑭,⑮,⑯,⑰,⑱,⑲,⑳

Arial Unicode MS+DeltaOverlap

*Shows like above with font installed.

①,②,③,④,⑤,⑥,⑦,⑧,⑨,⑩,⑪,⑫,⑬,⑭,⑮,⑯,⑰,⑱,⑲,⑳

Typing in Unicode characters

Check with the techteam to see if a REG key has been installed to allow entering "Hexidecimals" on the keypad. If so - then Unicode can be entered by:

·   Holding down the ALT key,

o   Tap "+"

o   Then enter the numbers from the keypad and the letters A-F (Hedixecimal) from the keyboard

o   Release the ALT key only when finished!

Copying Unicode from the character map

Easiest way to get to the characters is using Character Map utility in Windows (At right).

And set the font, select Unicode subrange then select Enclosed Alphanumeric. The select each one, build up the list then cop-paste into Revit(See below)

Select each character by clicking then [Select] to add it to the Characters To Copy.

Select COPY to copy the characters in the box to the clipboard.

See next steps to paste into Revit

Adding the symbols to Revit

In Revit go to Manage> Revisions and select Alphanumeric

In the Alphanumeric - use CTRL+V to paste into the Sequence box. Separate each value with a comma ",". Each sequence is represented by a symbol from the font that has the triangle in it.

Setting the font in the title block

One last step- to override the font to use the Arial MS Unicode:

Edit the titleblock; Edit the schedule; Select the Column A

Right-Click to Edit font

Select ArialUniMS+DeltaOverlap

Note: increase text to 5/64" or as large as 3/32" to approximate size of the triangle bound number to actual text. Note also- this will increase the row size in the revision schedule.

Then load the file back into the project- don't overwrite parameter values unless you edited it from the project directly.

Do NOT save over the original version! Standard is without triangles.

Repeat for each revision schedule for different sheet sizes in the set.
